With its beloved characters and innovative approach to education, Sesame Street has been a cultural touchstone for generations of children. In 2012, we collaborated with Sesame Workshop, the show’s creator, on an interactive trip along “The Longest Street in the World” to celebrate the organization’s history and accomplishments. A multi-touch table situated in the lobby of its New York headquarters engages visitors, focusing on the non-profit’s goal to better the lives of young people around the world, while a kiosk at the National Children’s Museum in Maryland enchants and entertains kids by bringing to life the furry friends they’ve come to know and love.

“Sesame Street gets the SUR40 treatment,” Next at Microsoft, Steve Clayton, June 2012

The team in Portland, Oregon has a great project I’d like to show you...This one sits in the New York City headquarters of Sesame Street and uses Microsoft PixelSense to show visitors that Sesame Workshop is more than a non-profit organization — it is a global endeavor to better the lives of children around the world...It’s a fine example of the use of the Samsung SUR40 to engage guests in a digital storytelling experience – beautifully delivered with content everyone loves.

“Can you tell me how to get to Sesame Street?,” The Microsoft Surface Blog, James Maki, May 2012

The Sesame Street / Second Story collaboration produces one of the finest Surface applications to date. The integration of content and design is seemless, and extremely well done!
