As visitors enter the Native Voices gallery, they are greeted with a “Welcome Wall” of media, representing a diversity of perspectives on health.

The Welcome Wall multimedia installation functions as a colorful preamble to the Native Voices experience. Fifteen screens display a diverse montage of portraits, introducing the visitor to some of the faces they’ll experience deeper in the exhibit. The portraits represent a spectrum of ideas on health, with contemporary practitioners like Joe Medicine Crow to historical figures like Queen Liliu’Kalani. Subtle graphic motifs are established in the Welcome Wall, priming the visitor for the gallery experience. The fifteen digital screens blend seamlessly with the exhibit graphics, combining to convey a sense of hospitality and inspire curiosity.
